Addis Ababa, December 23, 2021 (Walta) – – The Spokesperson of the Foreign Affairs Department of Ethiopia, Ambassador Dina Mufti, delivered an update on the fortnight’s press briefing for the press. In her presentation, the Ambassador spoke of diplomatic diplomacy in the political sphere and citizen-centered diplomatic actions throughout the week.
In terms of Diplomacy, President Sahlework Zewde toured African countries during the week. During her trip, the President was able to have a productive conversation with various African Presidents, the President said.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his team’s Participation in the 3rd Summit of the Partnership between Africa and Turkey, held on the topic “Enhanced Partnership for Development and Prosperity in Common,” was also noted as being productive.
The Deputy Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Foreign Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister had been in Juba during the week on an all-day trip in South Sudan. He was able to have a productive discussion with President Salva Kiir over bilateral issues or concerns, as was reported.
Concerning the convening of a Special Session to the UN Human Rights Council and creating an international expert commission on Ethiopia, the state minister of foreign affairs, Ambassador Redwan, said it is not acceptable, and Ethiopia will not participate in the process of setting it up.
Amb. Dina added that Ethiopia explicitly stated that the decision was not acceptable and would not join the mechanism for setting up.
